NURSERY 2
Take a glimpse of how a day in the life of a N2 child is like...
Our N2 Schedule!
The class caters children from 3 to 4 years old where we focus on the six learning domains - Language & Literacy, Numeracy, Aesthetics & Creative Expression, Music & Movement, Discovery of the World and Social & Emotional Development. We emphasise on different types of play as well to enhance their sensory experiences.

Their Learning Experiences
Take a look at what our children from the Nursery 2 class have been learning!
Term 1 : Our Community
In Term 1, our Nursery 2 children learnt more about senior citizens in our community. Ms Joy started introducing this topic by talking about their grandparents first before expanding it to the elderly in our neighbourhood. During our daily outdoor walks, we will politely greet the seniors who pass by us.
After much exposure to this topic, we had an excursion to a nearby Old Folk's Home where the children spent time interacting, communicating and engaging in art activities with the elderly. To wrap the session up, the children wrote a "Thank You" card to them.
Term 2 : Our Natural Environment
In Term 2, the children are learning about zoo animals. We went on a field trip to The Singapore Zoo and observed many different types of creatures such as lions, tigers, monkeys, giraffes and the list goes on!
We came back to class to recap on what they saw and talk about their favourite animal at the zoo. Ms Joy then integrated the children's interest in zoo animals together with her numeracy lesson. She introduced AB patterning to them using zoo animals printables.
The two teaching techniques demonstrated in the lesson are:
1. Guidance
2. Demonstrating

Guidance
Ms Joy guided the children's behaviour by creating clear rules and boundaries before beginning her lesson to help maintain positive attitudes in the classroom. As guiding is positive discipline, it helps to set clear, consistent limits that strive to foster self-esteem and independence in the children (Klein, 2008).
During the main activity as seen in the video, a child was seen struggling with the new concept taught. She shown difficulties in grasping AB patterning. Ms Joy then came over to guide her on how to do it.

Demonstrating
As Ms Joy introduced a new concept to the Nursery 2s, she demonstrated examples of AB patterning. Demonstrating, as a teaching technique, aids children's learning by showing them how to use the materials and resources or how to accomplish a particular task (MacNaughton & Williams, 2009). This helps the children better understand the skill before applying it by themselves.
